EUR/USD (EURUSD)

EUR/USD is the exchange rate between the euro and the US dollar, the most heavily traded currency pair in the world. It moves on the relative stance of ECB and Federal Reserve policy and on comparative economic data from the Eurozone and the United States.

What moves EUR/USD?

EURUSD

ECB rate decisions, Eurozone inflation (HICP), and PMI/GDP releases shift expectations for euro-area interest rates — hawkish ECB surprises typically strengthen the euro against the dollar.

Federal Reserve rate decisions, US CPI, and the monthly jobs report move the pair from the other side — a stronger-than-expected US economy or a hawkish Fed typically strengthens the dollar, pushing EUR/USD down.
